Counseling Unconditionally

openforbiz.png

Tennessee HB1840, the Counseling Discrimination bill, highlights the need for counselors, therapists, psychologists, psychiatrists, and social workers to speak out for inclusive practices.  We urge any practitioner to endorse the statement below.  Those who endorse will be listed on our website and receive a Tennessee Open For Business window cling for display in their offices. If you would like to support programs like this, make your tax deductible contribution at this link.

As counselors, therapists, psychologists, psychiatrists, and social workers serving clients in Tennessee, we affirm that we do not discriminate based on sexual orientation or gender identity and we will not use our own sincerely held principles as a reason to turn clients away.

We need to continue offering inclusive practices for all those who seek the refuge of counseling. Discrimination should have no place within our practice when we have ample opportunity to expand our scopes of competency and address our own bias.

Since 1980 my professional counseling career has assisted thousands of individuals, couples and families in discarding negative self image, dysfunctional ways of relating, and ineffective decision making. My expertise also includes a variety of human sexuality issues and serving the L.G.B.T.I.Q. Community, including founding our areas first Transgender Support Group. Although I do not accept Emails, I look forward to your phone call at 423-624-8535
