Counseling Unconditionally

openforbiz.png

Tennessee HB1840, the Counseling Discrimination bill, highlights the need for counselors, therapists, psychologists, psychiatrists, and social workers to speak out for inclusive practices.  We urge any practitioner to endorse the statement below.  Those who endorse will be listed on our website and receive a Tennessee Open For Business window cling for display in their offices. If you would like to support programs like this, make your tax deductible contribution at this link.

As counselors, therapists, psychologists, psychiatrists, and social workers serving clients in Tennessee, we affirm that we do not discriminate based on sexual orientation or gender identity and we will not use our own sincerely held principles as a reason to turn clients away.

I’m a LPC-MHSP (licensed professional counselor-mental health service provider), born and raised in Tennessee, currently living in Nashville. I affirm that I do not discriminate based on sexual orientation or gender identity and I will not use my own sincerely held principles as a reason to turn clients away.

I’m a graduate student in my 5th semester earning my M.Ed in Counseling and Human Development from LWC, and I sincerely oppose this legislation as I will be pursing my license for being a LPC in the state of TN. Despicable, vile, and right out hateful legislation disguised as protecting “counselors” when it only serves to harm LGBTQI people and disregard counseling ethics. Any counselor agreeing with this legislation I strongly urge to read my blog about it and reconsider this:
