TEP Foundation launches Giving Tuesday campaign

The Tennessee Equality Project Foundation, an educational non-profit organization that advances the equality of gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender people in Tennessee, is preparing for Giving Tuesday on December 2.

According to Executive Director Chris Sanders, "We've recruited volunteers  throughout the state to help us spread the word about the opportunity to help grow the movement for equality in Tennessee on December 2.  We also have Giving Tuesday events scheduled that day to encourage giving.  In Nashville we're inviting everyone to stop by our office that morning at OutCentral for a quick donut and some information.  In Memphis, the TEP Shelby County Committee is having a Taco Tuesday event at Molly's La Casita.  The TEP Knox, Anderson, and Blount Counties Committee will be gathering at Bistro at the Bijou in Knoxville."

Sanders notes that these efforts are designed to help the TEP Foundation meet its $2500 goal on Giving Tuesday.  The funds will be used to support the organization's media, safe schools, marriage equality, diversity training, and Equality Means Business programs.

Founded in 2012, Giving Tuesday follows Cyber Monday and provides a focus for philanthropy as a counterpoint to the commercialization of the holiday season.  The campaign begins at Midnight Eastern Time on December 2/11:00 p.m. Central Time on December 1 and lasts 24 hours.
