Dear Governor Haslam,

We call on you to do everything in your power to lobby against passage of SB2387/HB2414, the anti-transgender student bathroom bill.  We also ask that you VETO the bill if it reaches your desk.

The bill endangers vulnerable students and it risks significant U.S. Department of Education funds to Tennessee.  If this bill became law, the enforcement would be a nightmare for school districts across the state.

Show the world that Tennessee is a welcoming state.  Thank you for considering our views.

I am a school-based mental health therapist in the state of TN, and I have been in strong opposition to this bill since its conception, as it directly opposes these kids’ basic rights to use the restroom. In every single state that has passed legislation protecting trans kids’ rights to use the restroom to which they identify, there has not been one single incident of the law being abused by predators (students or adults). Not to mention the financial impact that our state will suffer as a result of the passing of this bill. I strongly urge you to veto this bill, should it reach your desk, if, for no other reason, than the major financial impact to our state, due to its title viiii conflicts.

I think the people who voted for this bill may need a little therapy themselves. Discrimination for any reason is still discrimination. Please stop hating because someone is not like you!
